Publication History
Starting volume 53/2009, the Revue Roumaine de Géographie/Romanian Journal of Geography (RjGEO) has been issued twice a year. The publication of the journal in a new format is subject to a peer-review process undertaken by a group of prestigious scientists. This aims to continue past efforts and broaden international relations by including outstanding studies by foreign researchers.
The journal, permanently issued under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, reflected developments and trends in Romanian Geography, as well as bublished of the most valuable research results attained in this country. Over time, it comprised papers presented at international scientific events held in Romania, including articles written by foreign specialists.
The host of problems posed after 1990 by the transition from a centralised system to the free market economy in both Romania and neighbouring countries focus on the complex relations between
society and environmental change, urbanization, natural and technological hazards and sustainable development, as well as on current issues of Central and Southeastern Europe, such as cross-border co-operation and geopolitical problems in the eastern extremity of the European Union,
in the Lower Danube and the Black Sea Systems.
The RjGEO publishes articles in English and French.
Most of the papers published in the journal belong to international researchers, mainly from Central and Eastern Europe, Southeastern Europe, North and Central Africa, and South Asia. The authorship covers more than 30 countries.
